PABLO PICASSO at Jane Kahan Gallery

Picasso ceramic painted terracotta

PABLO PICASSO (1881 - 1973) practically defined art in the 20th century.  A protean creator and a relentless experimenter, Picasso had enormous influence on generations of artists in every medium.

PICASSO CERAMICS

Picasso-ceramic Aztec vaseThe JANE KAHAN GALLERY was one of the first in America to specialize in Picasso ceramic editions and we still maintain a large selection of these works.  From 1947 until 1971over six hundred of Picasso's designs were recreated in Vallauris in editions ranging from 25 to 500.

Picasso also worked on over 3,500 unique pieces, most of which are in museums, though some become available from time to time. The Jane Kahan Gallery is privileged to carry some of these pieces.

PICASSO PRINTS

The Jane Kahan Gallery is particularly experienced in the field of Picasso graphics and is well known as a source of knowledge to collectors, museums and other dealers alike.  As a graphic artist Picasso was a giant, producing over 2,500 intaglio prints, lithographs and linocuts.1999 (BL 169).jpg (28556 bytes)

Condition is a paramount concern when it comes to prints, and forgeries are not unknown.  Unless a collector is thoroughly knowledgeable about this complex market, he would do well to consider pursuing this artist with a respected art dealer whose expertise includes fine prints.

PICASSO TAPESTRIES

The Jane Kahan Gallery is one of the few galleries in the world that deal in the rarefied field of Picasso tapestries.  Tapestries after some of Picasso's most famous paintings, including Demoiselles D'Avignon and La Danse were created in collaboration with Nelson Rockefeller for his personal collection.  There are also Picasso tapestries by master weaver Yvette Cauquil Prince.

Buying art long distance -- whether by mail, over the phone or through the Internet -- is problematic.  The JANE KAHAN GALLERY does not quote prices except to established clients, nor can we provide informal estimates of pieces that you may own (though we do perform written Picasso Appraisals for a fee).   Our function is to help our clients acquire the works of art that best suit their tastes and pocketbooks. That is why we seek a direct relationship that will better help us to understand your specific needs.

We invite you to give us a call.  If you're coming to New York, we'd be happy to set up an appointment so that we can get to know one another.  Or just drop by when you're in the neighborhood.  We look forward to hearing from you.
